Two Camps  (Genesis 32:1-2)

 

​Genesis 32:1 "Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. 2 And when Jacob saw them he said, 'This is God’s camp!' So he called the name of that place Mahanaim "two camps" (ESV 2001).


     Jacob's camp joining with God's camp ultimately changed Jacob's life forever.  Upon Jacob's departure from this place (vs 28) he was renamed Israel, from JACOB--"man-clutcher" to ISRAEL--"God-clutcher" (NBD 3rd ed.).  These two camps were now forever united.​
